Burrendah Primary School - Mosaic Commission

Posted by Paul Petale on 12 April 2013

This panorama mosaic mural was commissioned by Burrendah Primary School.

The school's emblem is the Black Swan as Burrendah means "Place of the story of the black swan" - and we were asked to create a series of panels showing the birds nesting with thier cygnets and then taking flight into the sunset.

A series of 8 panels sit side by side along the wall of the school's new library. The entire mural measures 10m in length and is made from ceramic tile and some shards of mirror.

The install took around 10 hours, as each panel was affixed and then joined so that it was seamless. Our thanks go to Jonathan and William for the heavy lifting!

We were also invited to the opening ceremony at the school, which was a wonderful experience.

We have a short video below that shows the mural in it's entirety.
